En la Estaci\u00f3n Ferrocarril de Puerto Colombia se encuentran exhibidos cuadros con hitos hist\u00f3ricos de este evento cultural, entre uno de ellos figura la imagen de abajo, ah\u00ed se narra que en el a\u00f1o 1995 lleg\u00f3 a participar al Reinado Intermunicipal de Santo Tom\u00e1s una hermosa joven llamada Sirena Hern\u00e1ndez, quien se gan\u00f3 el favoritismo de la gente y del periodismo, pero no result\u00f3 elegida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Este hecho motiv\u00f3 a Carlos Su\u00e1rez a realizar un evento propio y de ah\u00ed naci\u00f3 el Sirenato de la Cumbia, pero lo que no se cuenta nos dice una fuente de entero cr\u00e9dito es que el finado adem\u00e1s de motivarse a realizar el evento habr\u00eda asegurado que ninguna reina de Santo Tom\u00e1s se coronar\u00eda en Puerto Colombia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aunque en el 2001, Liseth Sarmiento gan\u00f3 el sirenato de la cumbia representando a Santo Tom\u00e1s, hasta hoy es la \u00fanica de haber logrado ese prop\u00f3sito y pareciera que la sentencia del a\u00f1o 1995 estuviese vigente hoy porque m\u00e1s nadie la ha logrado y la corona ha sido bien esquiva para las reinas participantes de la tierra de los verdes mangos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Realidad o ficci\u00f3n, lo que si es cierto es que en Santo Tom\u00e1s tenemos muchas virreinas, princesa y una sola Sirena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
